Either way, if you ask me – Far too restrictive. Staying away from their system for 14 days or even 30 days seems to me to be a „fairer“ system. I could understand if it was a small area that was overused. but most of this area is wide open. Hundreds of square miles. There are rules against establishing a house in the forest on public land. Whether you want to call it squat or trespass, it`s not technically allowed. That being said, with millions of acres of land in the U.S. largely undisturbed by people, with the exception of occasional park rangers or hikers, there are stories of people living in the same place for years.

On days when other people would sit apathetically at their desks, I was almost always a short drive from the trophy trout waters. In Portland, Oregon, he lives in urban squats populated by anarchists or in community houses that welcome travelers.
