The Madison County Legal Self-Help Center provides Madison County residents with legal information about their legal rights and obligations, instructions on how to deal with common legal issues, assistance with certain legal documents and forms, and referrals to free, inexpensive legal services. The Madison County Volunteer Lawyers Program (MCVLP) is a nonprofit pro bono program supported by the Huntsville-Madison County Bar Association. Through the MCVLP, area attorneys provide free legal assistance in certain civil cases to low-income citizens of Madison County. The Madison County Volunteer Lawyers Program was organized in 1982 and is the oldest pro bono program in Alabama. Each year, the MCVLP provides underrepresented citizens of Madison County with access to the civil justice system by referring them to dedicated and knowledgeable lawyers. Apply online here: vlpmadisoncounty.com/get-help/apply-online/ MCVLP offers a wide range of volunteer opportunities. Most lawyers volunteer their time by advising an MCVLP client at a legal clinic or providing extended pro bono representation. If you`re a Madison County resident or have a case pending and need legal assistance, find out how we can help you for free. Legal services are for all seniors who need legal advice. The service is free of charge.
However, contributions will be accepted with gratitude. Everyone should feel welcome to request a service, and no one is ever denied a service because they are unable to contribute. MCVLP relies on the generosity and dedication of our local community. With your help, we can work together to ensure that all our citizens have access to civilian services that protect health, safety, economic security and family stability. The Legal Self-Help Center does not offer legal advice to its clients. Instead, it provides clients with legal information on topics such as instructions for available forms, answers to general legal questions, and information about court proceedings. Do you need legal help? All Madison County residents 60 years of age and older (or other persons qualified by special circumstances) may seek legal advice from the Legal Aid Society of Mid-New York.
