A student`s salary will continue for the duration of the TCPP, and we will pay the IFPC application fee. In addition, Harris pays our art students tuition for the third year of law school, up to a maximum of $6,500. We plan to articulate your introduction to our firm and the opportunities offered by our Prince George law firm, with the hope that if you are successful, you will consider staying with us as a partner and eventually as a partner. We cover costs for PLTC and the Bar Association for appeal and admission fees. We offer MSP family coverage, dental services, extended health insurance and 10 days of paid time off.
Your salary and benefits will be paid to you during your participation in the TCPP. Our program is diverse and flexible. Instead of being based on a set rotation, our students follow their interests. We expose our students to our practice as much as possible so that they experience the full range of opportunities in this area of law. It is inspired by the model that exists for our lawyers who define their practice according to their interests. The majority of our employees and many of our partners joined the firm as students. We understand that choosing a student is as much about lifestyle and culture as it is about career opportunities. Here, balance is integrated into our culture both formal and informal, and students learn from professionals who have a balanced professional life. At Harris, almost nothing is a formula: we allow flexibility and balance because we know it makes people happier, healthier and more successful. At Harris, our students work with leading lawyers to experience a stimulating, friendly and flexible learning environment.
At HSJ, our interns are given responsibilities and the opportunity to develop their skills. When you decide to start your legal career with us, you will work with experienced lawyers who offer excellent work and a broad clientele. During your training, you will be encouraged to engage and learn about all aspects of building your own practice, from marketing to research. In terms of legal services, northern British Columbia is an underserved area of the province. Prince George is a great place to experience the work that matters: meaningful and exciting legal challenges early in your career and the chance to quickly expand your client base. Mentorship is an important aspect of your artistic year. You are assigned a school principal to supervise your work. In addition, a team of experienced mentors in various areas of legal practice provide work that ensures your learning is well balanced.
As a full-service law firm, HSJ offers you the flexibility to learn commercial, family, criminal or civil law. We offer ongoing training and help you transition to becoming an independent and productive lawyer. HSJ encourages independence, but ensures you get the support you need in your early years.
