Our volunteers help us promote access to justice and serve more people in our community. To access legal services related to kinship issues, contact Kinship CareLine. Kinship CareLine may provide the necessary referral to the Georgia Legal Services Program or the Atlanta Legal Aid Society for advice or representation. The Military Legal Assistance Program, jointly sponsored by the Georgia Legal Services Program and the Georgia State Bar, supports military and veterans by connecting them with members of the state bar who are willing to offer free or discounted legal services. Georgia has two organizations that provide legal advice and support to grandparents and other caregivers: the Atlanta Legal Aid Society and the Georgia Legal Services Program. The Atlanta Legal Aid Society serves the five major counties of the Atlanta metropolitan area (Fulton, DeKalb, Clayton, Cobb, and Gwinnett). The program assists veterans with service-related disability issues and military personnel with civil and non-criminal legal needs. Individuals eligible for the program include: (1) military personnel, including reservists and members of the National Guard, grade E-5 or lower; (2) any member of the service with problems related to the delivery; (3) retired military members and 100% disabled veterans who are in financial difficulty (financial hardship is assumed if the veteran`s income is equal to or less than 200% of the federal poverty line); and (4) veterans seeking assistance with a service-related disability or other VA benefits.
